How it works

Four steps, one payment, no account to create before you buy.

1. Pick your state

Choose where you want the LLC formed. The price on the product page updates to the exact all-in total for that state, because every state charges a different filing fee and we pass that fee through at cost rather than hiding it in an average.

If you are unsure where to form, the short answer for most people is your own state. Forming in Wyoming or Delaware while living and operating somewhere else usually means registering as a foreign entity in your home state anyway, which costs more and adds a second annual report. The states worth forming in deliberately are covered in the FAQ.

2. Pay

One charge. Our service fee plus your state's filing fee, itemised before you pay. No account creation, no password, no upsell sequence at checkout.

3. Tell us the details

Right after checkout we email you a short intake form: your business name, the members and their addresses, and who should serve as registered agent. This takes a few minutes and it is the only form you will fill in.

We ask after payment rather than before on purpose. Filling in member addresses before you have decided to buy is the reason most formation funnels lose people.

4. We file

We prepare and submit your Articles of Organization to the Secretary of State, generate your operating agreement, and set up your registered agent. You get the filed documents by email and a confirmation number you can verify against the state's own records.

How long it takes

Most states confirm within about 15 business days. Several offer same-day or next-day expedited processing for an additional state fee, which we will quote you at cost if you want it. We will tell you your state's real timeline rather than advertise the fastest one.

What happens in year two

This is where most formation services make their money and say the least, so here it is plainly.

Your LLC needs two things every year to stay in good standing: a registered agent and an annual report filed with your state. If either lapses, the state can administratively dissolve your company, and it will not call you first.

  • If you bought Launch, your first year of registered agent is included. From year two it is $99 per year. We will email you before it expires. We will not charge your card automatically unless you have explicitly asked us to.
  • If you bought Shield, Fortress or Global, the registered agent and the annual report filing are both included for as long as your term runs.

What we will not do

  • We will not act as your lawyer. We prepare and file documents. We do not give legal advice, and if your situation needs a lawyer we will say so.
  • We do not offer nominee officers or nominee managers. Some services advertise these as a privacy feature. We do not provide them.
  • We will not charge you for a BOI report. Under the 2025 FinCEN rule, domestic US LLCs are exempt from beneficial ownership reporting. Some competitors still bill for this filing.
  • We will not enrol you in anything silently. Every recurring charge requires you to agree to it first, in a sentence that names the amount and the date.
