Sedes forms LLCs and acts as registered agent. We are small, we publish our renewal prices, and we tell you when you do not need what we sell.
Why this exists
Business formation is a commodity. Filing Articles of Organization is paperwork a state processes for a fixed fee. Yet the industry built itself on the opposite assumption: a low advertised price, an upsell wall at checkout, and a renewal two or three times the first-year rate landing on a card you forgot was on file.
The tell is that most competitors do not publish their year-two price next to their year-one price. We do, on the pricing page, because the renewal is where the real cost of an LLC lives.
What we actually believe
- The price is the whole price. Our fee plus the state's fee, itemised, before you pay. We make nothing on the state fee.
- Nothing recurring without a yes. Every repeating charge requires you to agree first, in a sentence naming the amount and the date, with the box unticked by default.
- We will talk you out of things. If a sole proprietorship is enough for now, or your own state is the right state, or you can be your own registered agent for free, we would rather say so and keep you than close you and lose you.
- We will not overstate what we control. We cannot guarantee a bank account for a non-resident, we cannot make you anonymous, and we are not your lawyer or your accountant.
How we are built
Sedes is deliberately a small operation. Filings and registered agent service run through established partners with coverage in all fifty states, which is why we can charge $99 a year for an agent instead of $299 — we are not paying for a call centre or a Super Bowl ad.
We are also built to be operated by software. Our pricing, state data and compliance rules live in one place and are checked against each other automatically, because the most common failure in this industry is a price or a deadline that is right in one system and wrong in another.
What we are not
We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice. We prepare and file documents at your direction. For anything turning on your specific circumstances — multi-member disputes, unusual tax structures, litigation — you want a lawyer, and we will tell you that rather than improvise.
